2. Overview of Data Processing

This privacy policy covers the Semvec website (semvec.io) and supporting documentation portals. The Semvec library itself is distributed via PyPI and runs on your own infrastructure; when you use the library locally, no personal data is transmitted to us. We process personal data only to the extent necessary for providing our website, fulfilling support contracts, and complying with legal obligations. The legal bases are Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent), Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance), Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligation), and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

3. Website Access and Server Log Files

When you visit our website, our hosting providers located in Germany automatically collect: IP address (pseudonymized), browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, date and time of access. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in ensuring website security). Log files are deleted after 14 days. No personal identification is possible from pseudonymized data.

4. The Semvec Library; No Telemetry

The Semvec Python package does not contain telemetry. Anonymous usage pings were removed in v0.5.3. License verification happens locally via Ed25519-signed JWTs; there is no runtime phone-home. When you run Semvec on your own machines or servers, no usage data, conversation content, embeddings, or state vectors are transmitted to Versino PsiOmega.

5. PyPI Distribution

The package is distributed through the Python Package Index (PyPI), operated by the Python Software Foundation. PyPI logs download requests independently; their privacy policy applies: https://www.python.org/privacy/.

6. Support and Sales Contact

When you contact us via email (e.g. neuberger@versino.de, support@versino.de, security@versino.de), we process your name, email address, and the content of your message in order to respond. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in handling inquiries). Inquiries are retained as long as needed to handle the request and any subsequent correspondence, and then deleted.

7. License Issuance (Pro / Enterprise)

If you purchase a Pro or Enterprise license, we process: name, email, billing details, organisation, and the content of the issued JWT. License JWTs are signed with Ed25519 and verified locally on your side; we do not observe their use at runtime. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance).

8. Cookies

We use only technically necessary session cookies on this website. No analytics or tracking cookies are used. Legal basis: §25(2) TDDDG (technically necessary) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

9. Data Storage and Security

Personal data related to website operations and support contacts is stored on servers located in Germany (EU). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Access is restricted to authorized personnel only.

10. Data Retention

• Support correspondence: as long as required to handle the request, then deleted
• License records: 10 years (§147 AO, §257 HGB)
• Accounting records: 10 years (§147 AO, §257 HGB)
